Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery or GNM course is a 3 to 4-year diploma in paramedics. Nursing and Midwifery focuses provision of care to individuals, families, and communities.The course can be pursued after successful completion of the 10+2 level of education in the Science stream from a recognized educational Board, with a minimum aggregate score of 40%
GNM nursing course usually involves the compulsory completion of a 6-month internship in the discipline as well. This professional, job-oriented course in education lasts 3 to 4 years, with the duration varying across institutes. The course may also be availed of on part-time basis in certain institutes of the country.

- Completion of Intermediate (12 years of school education) in Science stream.
- Admission to the course is mostly entrance exam based.
- Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics as the subjects of study.
